Corporate lawyers have a decent salary and the highest average salary among all professions, according to the latest annual salary survey by the Law Society of Australia.
The survey found corporate lawyers earned an average of $92,000 in 2015-16, well above the median salary of $86,000 for all other lawyers.
A lawyer’s average weekly salary was $1,079.
The average annual leave entitlements for corporate lawyers was $14,000, more than double the $12,000 average for all law firms.
The law society says this is because of the substantial and often complex duties that corporate lawyers undertake, including litigation, arbitration and mediation.
The report also found the highest levels of legal professional responsibility, which includes being prepared to give advice to clients, were found among corporate lawyers.
More than 40 per cent of all law graduates were paid more than $50,000 last year, up from just 19 per cent in 2014-15.
The Law Society says its annual survey shows the average annual salary of a corporate lawyer is $91,000.
