The New York Times reported Tuesday that a former employee of The Weinstein Company has filed a lawsuit against the movie mogul and the studio for failing him in his attempts to hire a lawyer.
The lawsuit, filed in Los Angeles Superior Court, claims that Weinstein, in 2016, hired an attorney to represent him in the wake of a sexual harassment complaint that had been filed by a former colleague.
The lawsuit claims the attorney’s fee was over $300,000.
According to the Times, Weinstein is seeking damages from the studio and its chairman and chief executive officer, Miramax Films.
The Times report says the suit also claims that the Weinstein Company failed to make necessary changes to its internal procedures to protect its employees.
A representative for Weinstein did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
