Crump lawyer defends ‘wonderful’ teen accused of killing mom

A Florida man who defended a teenager accused of murdering his mother was sentenced Friday to 15 years in prison for the murder of his stepmother.

Juan Carlos Hernandez, 24, was sentenced to 15 to 25 years in state prison for killing Marcela Flores after a fight over money.

Flores, a mother of three, was killed in her home by Hernandez in August 2017.

She was 15 at the time.

Hernandez was arrested in July 2018 and charged with the murder, along with four other people, including Flores’ ex-boyfriend.

He was charged with two counts of aggravated battery to a child under 13, two counts each of child endangerment, reckless endangerment and child abuse.

The second charge, a first-degree murder charge, is still pending.
